White sugar. Healthy?

 White sugar. Healthy?

Suffering from sugar, diabetes, obesity, but you can't do without cold soft drinks? There is no shortage of such people in our society. And there is no end to the worries about this and it was on this occasion that the American multinational company 'The Coca-Cola' brought 'Diet Coke' to the market. You too played the drums with joy, but you didn't realize that there was a 'nest of vultures in the tiger's den'. How much importance is given to human health or opportunity to the business mindset. How healthy are all the daily necessities available in the market, whether they are from famous or unknown companies? We may never even think that the food that is on my favorite list every day has any side effects or instructions? Today, we will discuss one such harmless food, artificial sugar.

In the bottles of soft drinks, the company writes in big letters instead of the ingredients, “CONTAINS CAFFEINE”, “CONTAIN NON-CALORIC SWEETENER”. And the main ingredients of this drink are carbonated water, acidity regulators (338, 331 iii), sweeteners (951, 950), preservatives (211), caffeine (10 mg/100 g), colors (150 D), flavors (natural flavoring substances). This sweetener (951, 950) is being used in soft drinks, just Google it, what is being said about this sweetener (951, 950)? What Google will show you is bound to make you worry. Sweetener 951 or ‘Aspartame’ is carcinogenic, that is, it causes cancer in the human body. There was a debate about this for a long time, recently the World Health Organization A report by the (WHO) research arm, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), has once again raised this issue. After talking to various experts and testing samples of aspartame through them, the WHO has confirmed that it contains cancer-causing germs. This time, aspartame is being placed on the list of things that can cause cancer in humans and the IARC will declare artificial sugar as a carcinogenic compound.

Use of artificial sugar: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of aspartame in 1981. Since then, its safety review phase has been conducted five times. Currently, this artificial sugar is used in about 90 countries. This artificial sugar is 20 times sweeter than a teaspoon of regular sugar. Aspartame is used in Coca-Cola, diet soda, chewing gum and some other soft drinks. 90 percent of all the 'instant tea' or prepared tea available in the market contains this harmful compound. However, due to our carelessness, such products have created a huge market around the world.

IARC had previously declared all these food products as risky. After the announcement, it had a big impact on the market. Many companies were sued. Some companies were even forced to change the ingredients used in their products. Then again, whatever!

However, IARC does not provide information on how much of the potentially carcinogenic substance a person can eat or drink. JECFA, another body of the World Health Organization, gives its opinion on this matter. This organization has been saying since 1983 that a person can consume a limited amount of aspartame.

WHO's Safe Limit (ADI):

According to the Joint Expert Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) of aspartame is: 40 mg/kg body weight.

For example:

If someone weighs 60 kg, then he can consume a maximum of 60 × 40 = 2400 mg of aspartame per day.

Amount of aspartame in common foods:

A typical diet soft drink (350 ml): may contain about 180-200 mg of aspartame.

A sugar-free chewing gum: about 6-10 mg.

So, if you consume several aspartame-containing drinks or foods in a day, it should be within the ADI limit.

Damage of excess intake:

Phenyl ketonuria (PKU): Aspartame is dangerous for those suffering from this rare genetic disease, as it produces phenylalanine. Symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, or mental anxiety can occur.

By the way, sugar is mainly produced from sugarcane and beets. For good reason, its color should be red. It is bleached to whiten it, just like our clothes are cleaned. Generally, sugar is found in glucose and fructose. Fructose is not used in our body and directly fills the liver and pancreas with fatty acids. There, jiggery contains glucose, sucrose, a lot of minerals and vitamins, which are not found in white sugar. Jiggery contains calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc and copper in good amounts as minerals. Our body needs very little of these minerals. But naturally, if there is excess, it is excreted from our body. Sucrose is useful in our body. Since jiggery, which is rich in folic acid and vitamins, contains a high amount of sucrose

(Disaccharide), any diabetic patient can eat it safely, whereas eating white sugar means eating direct poison. The World Health Organization has repeatedly asked the food industry to write ‘Injurious to Health’ on white sugar.

So the solution? Use pure jiggery, pure honey as much as possible as an alternative to white sugar. If not possible, eat sugar in small quantities.

So what's the solution? Use pure molasses, and pure honey as an alternative to white sugar as much as possible. If not possible, eat it in its entirety. Honey is a natural sugar, antioxidant, and bioactive compound that provides the technology to improve the body's ability to fight oxidative stress. For example, honey contains phenol compounds, flavonoids, and enzymes that help fight oxidative stress. Antioxidants reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer. Boosting immunity, honey's natural antibacterial and antiviral properties can help the immune system. Whole honey contains bee venom and propolis, which play a role in boosting the immune system. Natural honey is antiseptic and has long been used to heal burns and wounds. Its low pH and high content create an environment that prevents bacteria from growing. Honey acts as a natural sedative, soothes the throat, and reduces fatigue. It is usually used with herbal tea or lemon to relieve colds.

Honey improves digestive health, helps reduce acidity and gastritis symptoms. It helps our digestive system by promoting the growth of good intestinal bacteria.

Honey contains glucose and fructose, which are quickly digested and converted into energy, honey helps reduce acne and provides a natural glow when applied topically. Honey has been used as a trusted ingredient in beauty and skin care and as an ingredient in the pharmaceutical industry since ancient times for its moisturizing and antibacterial properties.

Unlike refined sugar, honey has a low glycemic index, so it helps control blood sugar. Honey is consumed before bed, which helps in a restful sleep.

It's best to get your whole, unprocessed honey from various name-brand processed honey companies.

Avoid giving honey to children under 1 year of age due to the risk of botulism.

Keep an eye on your daily diet and the amount of food you eat. If you have any doubts about aspartame, consult a dietitian or doctor.
